Below is a link to an article which I penned for the Junior Volleyball Association (JVA) which addresses the trend of college volleyball coaches actively recruiting junior high school players!

I don't think it will stop until people (coaches) get burned. Ebony Nwanebu is a good example. Made the decision too early, got to college, got an overuse injury, then got homesick. When she left the team after her freshman year, the team suffered and had a poor season. Teenage girls rarely are that focused from 8th grade to 11th grade. Already tall for their age, they dwarf most boys in 9th and 10 grade, hormones awaken, getting acne, the pressure of getting good grades, sometimes divorces happen...a lot going on, kind of like a pressure cooker. A decision delayed is better all around than making one during those crazy times of adolescence.
